With the beautiful sunshine filled days in Orlando, Downtown features a lot of events at its many parks. The most popular, Lake Eola Park, is the centerpiece of Downtown. It has swan boat rides and gondolas to cruise around the massive fountain. Lake Eola Park also features huge events like a 4th of July celebration, 5k runs, music and art festivals, and the Sunday Eola Farmer's Market. Publix, Downtown's first grocery store, opened September 6, 2008 in The Paramount and is now a favorite of local residents. Also in progress is Downtown's new Performing Arts Center, with three feature halls. The PA Center will open in 2012 and feature a modern all glass walk-over to City Hall over Orange Avenue to Rosalind Ave. The final portion of this Downtown makeover is a facelift to the Orlando Citrus Bowl.
